Guirgiyan is a Kuwaiti festival for children meaning
‘a noisy knock on the door’ which
falls in the middle of the Holy month of Ramadan.
Children dressed in customary costumes singing traditional
songs, go in the neighbourhood collecting nuts and
sweets and wishing everyone good Guirgiyan.
The custom of Guirgiyan has nothing to do with
religion but more to do with the collective spirit
of children that crosses the barriers of religion
and community.
