Kuwait offers a truly cosmopolitan experience, an amalgamation
of the finest of both the East and the West to the discerning
palate. Everything from McDonald's burgers to ethnic Lebanese
or Iranian cuisines can be found. Kuwait has been home to people
of many nationalities who brought with them different cuisines.
The variety of restaurants in Kuwait is truly fascinating and
almost all types of cuisine are readily available -- be it the
Indian, Chinese, Mexican, etc. According to recent estimates,
there are more than 100 ethnic varieties of food available in
Kuwaiti restaurants.
Restaurants and other eateries range from food stalls to upmarket
five-star restaurants.
Liquor is not served anywhere in the country as it is prohibited
both by the law of the land and Islam. Kuwaitis also have a habit
of taking meals late in comparison to Americans; dining usually
begins by 10 pm. The most common beverage is the Turkish coffee.
