KUWAIT, September 07 (KUNA) -- The important resolutions arrived at by the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during their 30th summit were extraordinary and exceptional, and will serve the interests of the region`s people, said Kuwait`s Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on Tuesday.
Speaking at a joint press conference with GCC Secretary General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah after the conclusion of the summit, Sheikh Mohammad said that the summit results "exceeded all expectations" and resulted in the launch of the GCC electricity linkage project and agreeing on mechanisms for putting the common currency project in place.
On the Iranian nuclear file, he said that the summit, in its communique, welcomed international efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the nuclear dossier and hoped that all related parties would work towards eliminating concerns and doubts revolving around the nature of this issue.
This, he said, would bring security and stability to the region and would guarantee the region`s right to peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of relevant international conventions, and under the regulations and monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) .

Sheikh Mohammad reiterated the GCC`s rejection of any military activity against Iran, saying that any military tension in the region would reflect negatively on all countries of the GCC.
Moreover, he said that any negative dealings with Iran, with regard to its nuclear file, would not be in the interest of the region, adding that the GCC member states sincerely wanted to hold dialogue with Iran.
